Trnava Region

The Trnava Region can be characterized as industrial/agricultural. The main industrial branches are:  automotive, electro-technology, machinery, energy, chemical, pharmaceutical, design, metal-working, printing and others. The system of education in this region is represented by primary schools, secondary technical and vocational schools as well as grammar schools. There are three Universities: the Slovak Technical University in Trnava offers degrees in industrial technologies, technical materials, industrial ecology, management and information systems, while Trnava University and the University of St. Cyril and Method offer a wide selection of courses in the humanities and natural sciences.

The Trnava Region is second only to Bratislava in terms of regional GDP and FDI inflow.

The regional economy today is built on a traditionally strong manufacturing and service sector as well as advanced technologies and a highly qualified population. The future will see greater focus on the automotive, electro-technology and energy industry as well as research and development in these sectors. To support these sectors, automotive and electro-technology clusters have been established, while an energy cluster is being prepared. In addition, the City Industrial and Technology Park Trnava has been set up to support investment and innovation in these sectors. The automotive, electro-technology and energy sectors are generally considered to be indicators of a country’s full development.
