Slovak University of Technology

The Slovak University of Technology (STU) is the largest technology university in Slovakia, offering a wide range of accredited study programmes and possessing significant scientific research capital. In broad numbers, STU has 19 000 students, of which 12 500 are undergraduates, 5 100 are at Masters level and 1 350 are pursuing doctoral studies. There are 1 100 teaching and 300 research staff, of which it is estimated about 70% are research-active. It produces about a ¼ of Slovak university publications in research.

STU’s seven research oriented technological faculties, its own Institute of Management, the technology business incubator InQb, and the STU Know-How Centre all share in common their pursuit of innovation and exchange of expertise with industry. STU has successfully joined many international scientific research projects and programmes, and actively collaborates with businesses of every size. The university attracted the largest number of FP6 projects in Slovakia.

Professor Redhammer, the Vice-chancellor for Science and Research at STU said: ‘STU is proud to be a forward-looking university with a strategy to develop the technology transfer potential of its academic base, exploit and commercialise academic ideas and intellectual property created during the course of research related activities.
