Municipal Department 27 – EU Strategy and Economic Development
The Ma27 is one of our related project partners. They support the project centrope_tt with the collection of data in Vienna.
MA 27 aims at the positioning and sustainable further development of Vienna as a quality business location, specifically with a view to the European Region CENTROPE.
ACTIVITY RANGE
MA 27 is a strategic department within the Executive Policy Group for Finance, Economic Affairs und Vienna Public Utilities and renders its services on behalf of decision-makers both at the political level and within the scope of the Vienna City Administration.
The Department is tasked with monitoring, analysing and reporting on current developments in the areas specified below. In order to prepare decisions and initiate suitable measures, its work often extends to EU level and comprises inter alia the representation of Vienna, participation in national and European networks as well as lobbying activities.
In the fields of EU funding and the promotion of universities of applied sciences, a theoretical basis is first developed and negotiated, followed by the administration and management of the respective monies and grants.
Thematic orientation
The tasks of MA 27 are primarily organised along general affairs relating to the European Union:
- services of general (economic) interest
- energy and co-ordination of SEP (Vienna’s Urban Energy Efficiency Programme)
- further development of Vienna as a business location (with a focus on the labour market, economy, technology, research and innovation)
- EU cohesion policy for Vienna and the European Region CENTROPE
In the above areas, MA 27 posits itself as a competence hub with a highly qualified staff. Due to the high standards of specialisation in the individual activity areas, particular importance is attached to expert training within MA 27.
The expertise of MA 27 serves to recognise, at an early date, such developments in the above-described areas as might impact Vienna, to prepare suitable positions to be adopted by the Austrian capital and, if necessary, to highlight alternative options to counteract potential negative trends.
